Now
What I'm focused on right now.
- Fishy App — building a ledger app for a small fish monger business. Stock, money in and out, daily profit. No point-of-sale flow, on purpose. Project details →
- TukiWatch App — shipping it. Getting it out the door is the priority. Project details →
- Open source — contributing to projects I find interesting and useful, as time allows.
Underneath all of it, I'm packaging myself as a product-focused engineer: someone who understands user problems and translates them into solutions — and who will tell you when the solution isn't software at all.
- Rust — learning it properly, not just skimming.
- Mobile — sharpening React Native and Expo skills.
- Local-first — most of my current development is local-first. Performance and usability come first.
The question driving me: why is so much software slow and resource-hungry, and what does it take to make it fast? Optimization done well is a kind of beauty.
I believe software should be open to everyone. Companies should charge for expertise, services, and computing resources when needed, not for access to the code itself.
I'm trying to deeply understand user experience across different domains. Systems thinking and architecture are a daily practice, something I push on a little more every day, mostly through tech podcasts and books.
Working from home in Nairobi. Part-time job alongside my own projects, plus networking with the local tech communities.
When I'm free I go down research rabbit holes, surfing the web for hidden gems, connecting concepts from different domains into new ideas. And I watch movies.
Open to selected work, collaborations, and conversations. I leave room for something different, too if it respects both our time, I'm interested.
